A LITTLE ABOUT US

RIVERWOOD

Why the name Riverwood?

Growing up, my grandfather, Bill, had a small cabin on a lake where the whole family would gather. We’d meet for Christmas, Thanksgiving, 4th of July, or just to be together. At some point, long ago, Bill hung a sign over the driveway that said “Riverwood”, and any time Bill passed under the sign he would exclaim,“Riiiverwoooood”, in long drawn out syllables.

Riverwood was a place for family. It was a place where life lessons were learned and where traditions were made. I was taught to be a good, honest, hardworking man by my father, John, my Uncle Steve, and my Grandfather Bill.

The picture shown to the right is an actual drawing of the cabin my grandfather had completed for my grandmother who loved spending her days on the back porch overlooking the lake. Undoubtedly, I’m sure they would sit together thinking of the next opportunity they would have to spoil their grandchildren and spend time surrounded by their loving friends and family

I decided to put the name Riverwood on my business, as opposed to my own name, because Riverwood feels, at least in my mind, bigger than me. To fail a customer, to cut a corner, or to not do the right thing, would be an offense to the memory of Riverwood and to the place and the men who shaped my life.

WIL CROWDER

Wil Crowder started his career in the construction industry in 2014 by becoming a building inspector. In this role he obtained multiple certifications in residential building code from the ICC. During this time as an inspector the exposure to multiple different builders and techniques uncovered the passion for construction that would come to shape his life. While working as an inspector Wil learned about building science and how techniques were implemented differently from company to company. From inspections Wil moved into his position as builder with a small local company where he learned the basics of site management and running a construction company. Wil then moved on to a large national company where those basic skills would be refined to a professional level. In his role as builder, Wil delivered homes from Atlanta to Birmingham, and as far south as Savannah. Each market presented new challenges and opportunities to learn. Wil is now back in the area where he grew up to make a name for himself as a quality home builder.
